Lesson Three: Blog as e-Portfolio

Think (e-Portfolio)
Before you began this course, what arrangements did you make (or still do) to be able to show to others (and to yourself), what you know and what you can do?
Before I started this course, I have written resume of myself, including information of my school, my qualification, to be able to show what kind of academic environment I have been in, and also I would include information on my personal character, hobbies, skills, and what I am interested in.

Explore (e-Portfolio)
1. Do you need an e-portfolio? Please watch this presentation. (This presentation describes the use of a wiki, while you will use a blog for this e-portfolio)
2. What are the main advantages and disadvantages you see in having an e-portfolio in addition to (or in place of) a traditional resume? Please see some of the examples below.

E-Portfolio does seem very useful and I am quite interested in using it; however, there is no opportunity to use it for now, unfortunately.
The main advantage is that the portfolio can be shared with other people. In addition to that, having the information online would prevent accidents such as having it thrown away. However, by having it on paper, the resume can be seen whenever, and wherever, even if there are no internet environment.

Explain (e-Portfolio)
Write a post reflecting on your blog as an e-Portfolio with reference to the four SCICU Key Questions.
1. What are the main skills needed to use your e-Portfolio?
2. What are the affordances of your e-Portfolio (what does it make possible, what does it impede)?
3. How can your e-Portfolio be used to network professionally and connect you (& other students) to learning resources?
4. What skills and understandings have you learned from creating your e-Portfolio that may promote your development as an effective learner in the digital age?
1. The main skills needed to use e-Portfolio is the skill to be able to organize important information about yourself, and being able to tell people what kind of person you are.
2. E-Portfolio makes it possible for people to share their personal resumes online.
3. This is useful in showing what has been learnt, and also, in planning about the future career.
4. E-Portfolio is important in learning as it makes you remember about, and also gives people confidence in what you can do, and the skills you have.
